Are people really that dumb to eat whatever shit the media throws at them?

It is no news that news media is a propaganda tool for imperialistic governments, business moguls, and cronies. But it is a bit surprising how we fall for this shit, despite having access to so much information at our fingertips.
When I saw a few tweets, whatsapp statuses, and facebook shares about how DPRK has banned laughing for 10/11 days, I initially thought it was a very good joke on their Autocracy. But my mind felt fucked up when I noticed some people sharing links to news articles on the topic from the so-called reliable news outlets.
Despite the title implying a laughter ban, the news article played little safe by using direct quotes from the anonymous source. Any dumbfuck could have guessed that the source here is US Government (via its Radio Free Asia). But are we all so worse than dimwit dumbfucks?
For those who aren’t familiar with Radio Free Asia, it is part of the Broadcasting Board of Governors, whose budget is almost a billion US dollars, which comes from their taxpayers(?). Recently this propaganda machine was renamed as U.S. Agency for Global Media (USAGM), and its arms reach very wide with radio stations and TV stations such as Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty, Radio y Televisión Martí, Radio Free Asia, and Alhurra TV and Radio Sawa.
Now going back to the matter at hand, most of the news articles about the “laughter ban” quote that Radio Free Asia has an anonymous source from whom they received this information. Radio Free Asia’s source continues “Even if your family member dies during the mourning period, you are not allowed to cry out loud and the body must be taken out after it’s over.” Now that’s a bit fucking ridiculous, isn’t it? DPRK is indeed shut out from the rest of the world and definitely an autocracy but claiming that their government is asking people to keep the corpses in the home for 10 days is pushing the limit.
It is not even a bit surprising that US imperialists are spewing such horseshit, but the readers must be a bit beware of the source of the news they are hearing.
